Small Miracle #6: Dances
Zaterdag 7 november · 18:00
Plein TheaterDutch below We invite you to explore what happens when different dance languages come into contact in our bodies, and how gestures, memories, and sensations accumulate through movement. ENG: Small Miracles Small Miracles is a series of interdisciplinary programs, part of the Plein Theater program for co-creation, that tend to the existing and possible communities of Plein Theater. Taking place across different Saturdays throughout the year, the series brings together diverse artistic practices in extended, durational formats. Each Saturday is dedicated to a word—or a word-mode—that serves as an invitation to explore the possibilities a theater offers for coming together. With a focus on desirable abundances and communal luxury, the programming of Small Miracles leans toward words aligned with these notions. #GetInvolved We believe that a theatre is not only a showcase platform, but also a meeting center where artists, local residents, communities, and audiences collectively shape what is presented. Our co-creation programme, where shared ownership and participation are key, can be recognised by the #GetInvolved label. Are you a dancer who’d like to share your practice with us? Let us know! If you would like to participate, please contact Community Producer Lorenzo García Andrade ( getinvolved@plein-theater.nl ). Read more and view recaps of past events on our page Community > Small Miracle #6: Dances " If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution " - Emma Goldman We usually encounter different forms of dance separately. We enter them through a class, a workshop, a celebration, or a particular community, each with its own rhythms, gestures, movements, and ways of relating to others. For this Small Miracle , we invite ten practitioners from different dance traditions and practices to lead a succession of thirty-minute sessions, one after another. Rather than aiming to learn or master any particular form, the invitation is to experience what each dance language asks of our bodies and how it invites us to move, coordinate, improvise, follow, resist, approach others, or inhabit space. We are interested in this format as a way of exploring what happens as gestures, memories, and sensations accumulate and enter into relation with different dance vocabularies, and how these encounters can shape our understandings of relationality, selfhood, identity, pleasure, dissidence, search, community, celebration, and movement. As different forms of dance rarely come into such close contact, this proposal befriends them in space and time, allowing their gestures, rhythms, and ways of moving to encounter one another through the accumulating experiences of the bodies taking part. No previous dance experience is needed. Dinner included in the ticket.
