Join us at Café Gilde for an evening of Indigenous storytelling, music, poetry, dance, and more! Entry is free/donation based. Any proceeds from this event will go directly towards supporting our Indigenous Youth programs in Amsterdam and globally. Food will be available to support the café as thanks for using the space. Schedule: 17:00 - Doors Open for Dinner + Music of Resistance 17:30 - Opening from the Indigenous Liberation Movement 17:45 - Poetry by Sarah Pardede 18:15 - Indigenous Youth Stories of Resilience 19:00 - Musical Break: Songs of Resistance 19:30 - Participatory Indigenous Dance as Resistance Workshop 20:30 - “Non-Binary” Art Project Presentation + Panel with Queer/NB Indigenous 21:00 - Indigenous Youth Stories of Resistance & Resilience 21:30 - Closing Ceremony with our Intergenerational & Intercultural Indigenous Leaders Speakers/Program Details: Sarah Pardede (she/they) is Indigenous Toba Batak from the Pardede clan. She is a water protector & land defender, offers legal support for indigenous farmers and refugees, is a poet, artist, musician, researcher, and RMIDS student at UvA. Willem Koning (he/him) is Karinja, a writer, artist and a co-founder of the former K'makah Foundation. Viene Vaux (they/them) is a Cree, two-spirit, 60’s Scoop Survivor from Treaty 5, Pimicikamak Cree Nation. Chautuileo Tranamil is Mapuche Pewenche from Wallmapu, Chile. She is a political scientist, youth mentor and a protector of mother Earth. Skylar Joseph (she/her) is Sicangu Lakota from Turtle Island. She is a forensic anthropologist/archaeologist specializing in humanitarian actions, human rights, and Indigenous advocacy on a global level. "Non-Binary", an Indigenous gender identities art exhibition by Masharu Studios will be on display with the project team. Youth Interns from Masharu Studios will be presenting the project on behalf of Dr. Masharu & alongside our Indigenous queer/NB panel.
