Orgelpark

Orgelpark

Orgelpark is a former church on Gerard Brandtstraat in Oud-West, converted into a specialist concert hall centred on organ music in its broadest interpretation. The venue houses a unique "hyperorgan" system, a network of instruments that can be played simultaneously and controlled from a single console, enabling performances that span centuries of repertoire and musical style in the same evening. The programming reaches from Bach and Buxtehude to contemporary commissions and experimental electronic work that uses the pipe organ as a foundation rather than a period instrument. Orgelpark commissions new work regularly and has built an international reputation in the contemporary organ music world. The architecture of the former church provides exceptional natural acoustics. Orgelpark sits near Vondelpark in a quieter part of Oud-West, making it easy to combine with dinner in the neighbourhood. The audience for any given night can range from church music traditionalists to electronic music producers, the programming actively seeks that breadth. Ticket prices are reasonable and the concert experience is unlike anything else in Amsterdam.
