Pllek

Pllek is built from shipping containers at the edge of the NDSM wharf in Noord, with an unobstructed view of the Amsterdam skyline across the IJ. The city beach in front of the venue operates in summer as one of the most unexpectedly good outdoor spaces in Amsterdam: sand, deck chairs, a bar, and the water. The restaurant inside operates year-round and is worth visiting independently of any event. The event programme covers a wide range: live concerts, DJ evenings, film screenings, community gatherings, and private events. Pllek is not a specialist venue in the way that Treehouse or Shelter are, it serves a broader audience and works across genres. This makes it one of the more welcoming entry points into Noord's cultural scene for people making the ferry crossing for the first time. The ferry from behind Centraal runs free and frequently, taking about twelve minutes. NDSM is large enough that Pllek, NDSM Loods, Treehouse, and Garage Noord can each be their own destination without overlapping. Pllek suits long afternoons that turn into evenings: arrive early enough to catch the light on the water.
