Radion has occupied the former ACTA dental faculty building in Nieuw-West since 2014, converting the school's classrooms into a series of raw concrete spaces that function as dancefloors, exhibition areas, and a daytime café. The transformation was deliberately incomplete: the industrial bones are visible, and the result is a venue that feels earned rather than designed. A 24-hour license enables programming that genuinely uses the full clock.
By night, Radion anchors the serious end of Amsterdam's techno scene — extended sets from respected international and Dutch artists, a sound setup that matches the intention of the room, and a crowd that comes specifically for the music. By day, the vegan café operates as a neighbourhood space and occasional venue for cultural events, exhibitions, and talks. Radion hosts the Fringe Festival annually and is a regular home for Brainwash Night and similar events.
Nieuw-West is an underexplored part of Amsterdam, and Radion is a primary reason to go there. The neighbourhood context gives the venue a different social texture from the city-centre clubs — more local, fewer tourists, more regulars who have been coming since the beginning. Tram connections from the centre are straightforward.
